THE BLACK PANTHER (BPP)
06:09THE BLACK PANTHER
A terrorist group?
Bunch of criminals?
A confraternity??
The Black Panther party have been labelled all sort of evil and a menace to the society but I think this certain things are clear; The Black panther party also known as Black Panther self-defence was created in 1966 by Huey Newton and Bobby seal. The two leading revolutionary men created the national organisation to collectively combat the white oppression. After constant viewing of police brutality on the black people, to build community and confront corrupt system of government is also one of the goals of the BPP, they even created a unified 10 points Agenda to outline their goals.
They actually better the community by starting an agenda of free breakfast fr children before sending them to school in the morning and other community labour which members volunteered to do. Their radical way of speaking against the government and their self defence soon turn them to public enemies and they were hunted and brought down by the FBI. The party was dissolve in 1988 after a lot of internal issues including the growing difference that split the party which was caused by the death of some members and how the FBI was hunting them and also Bobby seale's lose after running for Mayor of Oakland contributed to it.
Some of the prominent members of the black panther party includes Huey p. Newton, Eldridge cleaver, Mariam makiba, mutulu Shakur and Assata Shakur. I must also mention that the black panther party have a great influence Tupac_Shakur and his way of activism and his songs.
My POI on the black panther party is for the fact that they were unapologetically black in all ways and it's also on record that the BPP was the largest political party then and a percentage of the people who decided to sign up and join this black folks testify that they were attracted to the group by the way they dress up, their fashion.
The sight of black people rocking their beret, black leather jacket and fronting their fros like "we don't just care", everything about how they dress screams "B**** I'M BLACK AND I'M F*****G PROUD ABOUT IT" apparently they find it as an avenue to be themselves and express themselves freely.
"The black panther didn't invent the idea that black is beautiful... one of the things that black panther did was to prove that urban black is beautiful" a quote from a former member of the black panther party Jamal Joseph in a documentary.
synthetically the black panther had always been about the community it's a "WE" thing and not a "I" thing because we are always stronger together.
So you've ever defended a brother or sister??
You've spoken up against colorism??
You've spoken against racism??
You've preached about equality??
You've helped someone especially when they can't repay you ??
If yes; then you're a superhero and there's a panther in you (this's the part you imagine yourselves in t'challa's black panther suit with the wakanda forever pose)
Trust me I seriously resisted the urge of dragging Wakanda into this editorial but then Wakanda happens.😂😂
Do have a lovely day/night depending on when you're seeing this and don't forget to use the comment box below to share your view.
